About

Heather Treadway is a person and a fashion line. All of the pieces you see here on this website have been meticulously handmade by me in Portland Oregon.  I love designing and have been doing it since I was seven years old. I am most inspired by and interested in creating sportswear. Combining different types of fabric like silk, mesh and wool in one garment is my trademark. The shapes I am most drawn to are geometric and architectural. I play with color and incorporate surprising intimate details in my creations. A hidden pocket tucked neatly inside a flap, two different colored toggles that cinch the drawstring of a hooded vest, or a contrasting yoke sewn discreetly into the back of a shirt are all features I enjoy. Designing fashion forward pieces for creative and discerning people is my passion. I love starting a piece – searching through my fabric stash, drawing, going to the fabric store (Mill End) – to finishing: handing it off to a client or placing it on a rack in my shop or another fine boutique. When I am not making sportswear or strange and beautiful capes I am most likely making music with my band, dancing, or hiking in the forests of the Pacific Northwest.

  1. Hello Heather,

We own and curate a small art gallery in Northwest Portland called Gigantic (giganticgallery.info). We are currently putting together our August show and I was hoping you might be interested in participating. What we want to do with this show is focus on the first step in the creative process – the sketch. We are interested in showcasing the idea behind the product – the aspect of fashion design that people rarely see. Each designer would provide a few sketches of their designs and, if interested, also some completed pieces.

If you are interested in participating please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best,
    Shannon Larson and Richard Mavis
